How to Make Professional Looking Quizzes & Forms
If you’ve taken one of my AdCoach courses, then you’ve likely taken one of my quizzes. If so, you might have noticed the user interface, which I find to be very easy, seamless, and beautiful. Making a great looking online form, quiz, or lead gen page is an important feature of almost any modern business.
If you want to make your own, then I have a few simple steps that I recommend to make your next online form stand out from the crowd.
Step 1 — Define your end goal
What do you want to get from this form? If it’s leads, then what information is important? Do you need first and last name, phone numbers, or just email addresses?
If it’s a quiz, how are the questions structured? Can you create multiple choice questions, and do the students get the results right away, or at the end of the test?
It’s important to simplify your form. Therefore you should outline the full process from start to finish before you start building to think through each step. And if you’re collecting information, only collect what you really need. The less information you need, the better your conversion rate will be.
Step 2 — How will you share it
You’ll likely want to share on social media, email, blogs, or email. That means you’ll need to be able to share a link. If you don’t have your own website, then you need a service that will host your quiz or form for you, and provide a shareable link.
Step 3 — Find a professional form building service
Don’t try and build something from scratch on your own. There are lots of online platforms that offer professional looking templates at free or affordable rates.
Personally I use TypeForm for my quizzes and forms and highly recommend them. See below for a screenshot from one of my Digital Advertising quizzes.
Step 4 — Collect your data
Once everything is ready, and your quiz is shared, make sure you collect your data. Most services, including TypeForm, offer integrations into things like Google Drive, or email marketing platforms. This makes it super easy to import your contacts into whatever tool you need.
Step 5 — Start building!
Creating an online form has come a long way from the HTML builders of the early 2000s. Today lots of great options exist to make your forms and quizzes look professional, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to do a little planning before you get started. Take a few minutes to think through what you need, and you’ll be up and running in no time.
